Morris Parry - Sheepstealing

The Jurors for our Lord the King upon their Oath present that Morris Parry late of the parish of Llangunfelin in the County of Cardigan yeoman otherwise Morris Harry late of the parish of Llangunfelin in the County of Cardigan yeoman, on the ninth day of March in the thirty ninth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord King George the Third by the Grace of God etc...with force and arms at the parish aforesaid One Ewe Sheep of the value of five shillings of the goods and chattels of James Watkins then and there found feloniously did steal, take and drive away against the peace of our said Lord the King his Crown and Dignity...(plus another Ewe Sheep on 22nd March)

Inquest - Richard Thomas Morgan

CARDIGANSHIRE: An Inquisition indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at Treddole in the County of Cardigan aforesaid the Eighth day of June in the Thirty ninth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth, before Rice Williams one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County on view of the body of Richard Thomas Morgan upon the oath of Richard James, John Morgan, David Richard, John Richard, Griffith Rowland, Richard Edwards, Thomas Owen, John Davies, John Edward, Thomas Lewis, Edward Lumley, Hugh Pugh...John Richard and Stephen James good and lawful men of the said county duly chosen and who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King when how and by what means the said Richard Thomas Morgan came by his death Do upon this oath say that the said Richard Thomas Morgan on the Eighth day of June was following a cart at a place called Troedrhiwfedwen in the parish of Llanganfelin in the said county it so happened that the said Richard Thomas Morgan was then and there suddenly seized with a fit and by reason of the violence thereof He the said Richard Thomas Morgan, then and there fell to the ground in the highway and then and there instantly died. And so the jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Richard Thomas Morgan by the violence of the fit aforesaid and in manner and by the means aforesaid came to his death and not otherwise. In witness whereof as well the said Coroner and the Jurors aforesaid have to this inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place first within mentioned.

Three documents, identical apart from the name of the deceased:

CARDIGANSHIRE: An Inquisition indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at thedwelling house of Hugh Rowland at Treddole in the County of Cardigan aforesaid the Eighteenth day of April in the Fortieth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth, before Rice Williams one of the Coroners of our said Lord the King for the said County on view of the body of John Edward upon the oath of Richard Morgans, Edward John, Morgan John, John Morgan, Richard Morgan, David Owen, John Roberts, David Jenkins, John Morgan, David Rowland, Thomas Roberts, Thomas Lewis, Hugh Jones, David Richard and John Davies good and lawful men of the said county duly chosen and who being then and there duly sworn and charged to enquire for our said Lord the King when how and by what means the said John Edward came by his death Do upon this oath say that the said John Edward on the fifth day of April instant was in a certain sloop or vessel called the Plain Dealings, that the said sloop or vessel was stranded near the entrance of the River Dovey, and it so happened that the said John Edward accidentally, casually and by misfortune fell into the waters thereof and was then and there suffocated and drowned of which said suffocation and drowning he the said John Edward accidentally casually and by misfortune then and there instantly died. In witness whereof as well the said Coroner and the Jurors aforesaid have to this inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place first within mentioned.

The bundle also contains a document on the accusation of William Langon, jailer at Cardigan Jail, of negligence in allowing the escape of Thomas Thomas (of Llangynfelin), accused of stealing a Bank Post bill of the value of fifty pounds, the property of the Revd.
