Deddf y Tlodion |
The Poor Law |
Yn Archifdy Sir Ceredigion y mae casgliad eang o gofnodion ynglŷn â gweinyddiaeth Deddf y Tlodion i blwyf Llangynfelyn (a gweddill y sir hefyd). Ymhlith dyletswyddau Bwrdd y Gwarcheidwaid (gweinyddion Deddf y Tlodion) oedd rheoli'r tloty, talu 'cymorth allanol' a nifer o ddyletswyddau ynglŷn â iechyd (brechu, glanweithdra a.y.y.b.) Roedd Llangynfelyn yn rhan o Undeb Deddf y Tlodion Aberystwyth. Felly, anfonwyd trigolion y plwyf a ddaeth yn anghenus i dloty Aberystwyth, wedi'i godi yn 1840. |
The Ceredigion County Archives contain a large collection of records relating to the administration of the Poor Law for the parish of Llangynfelyn (and the rest of the county). The duties of the Board of Guardians (the Poor Law administrators) covered the administration of the workhouse, payment of 'outdoor relief', and various health duties (vaccination, sanitation etc.) Llangynfelyn was part of the Aberystwyth Poor Law Union. Any residents of the parish who were destitute were therefore lodged in the Aberystwyth workhouse, built in 1840. |
